The Lovepirate Shanty | Richard James Winter | 2005
Raise the anchor, set the sails
We'll pray for wind if all else fails
Call the tide in, get the beers
Say goodbye to the people with tears
Count the stars boys, break the compass
We'll walk the plank to the end of the world
The lovepirates, are on their way now
To an island full of real loose girls
Don't you worry about a thing
Jim & Dave have got a rubber ring
We got plans here we believe
But all we ever seem to do is leave
If we sink her, then we'll swim
Like dolphins on the open sea
'cause lovepirates, never worry
And always make it back to the quey
We are shipwrecks, full of secrets
Which you'll never find on any charts
The lovepirates, are going home now
To the girls with the sea sick hearts

Moving to Cuba, Richard James Winter, 2005
I'm moving, to Cuba
Where the girls are brown and the banks are closed
I'm moving, to Cuba
I'll bring my heart, I'll bring that red rose
I'll buy a big car with a fistfull of dollars
And we'll drive 'till night is day
A gallon of whiskey, some Cuban cigarres
Hell I might even start to pray
I worked on a ship, I worked on a train
I tried selling papers in the pouring rain
I broke a few hearts and fixed a few too
Now I'm moving to Cuba again
I'm moving, to Cuba
Where love is free, where love is like rain
I'm moving, to Cuba
I'll kiss you awake, again and again
I'll buy a small house with a fistfull of dollars
A joint that's as long as the day
A clock full of time, a bottle of hope
Hell I might even start to pray
I worked at the yard, it drove me insane
I took a few tablets to ease the pain
I broke a few hearts, fixed a few too
Now I'm moving to Cuba again (cha cha cha)
I'll buy a small house with a fistfull of dollars
A joint that's as long as the day
A clock full of time, a bottle of hope
Hell I might even start to pray
I worked at the yard, it drove me insane

Salty Sue | Richard James Winter | 1992/2005
Just met a girl called Salty Sue
Lives down by the sea with the fishing crew
Up every morning at a quater to five
Out on the waves, man she loves to ride
Out on the sea with a six foot sail
Hot on the trail of a twelve foot whale
Salty Sue's the girl for me
But she's married to the deep blue sea
Salty Sue
Out on the sea with fishing crew
Salty Sue
There's only one thing that she wont do
She's really hard to get to know
And there ain't one boat that she can't row
I was drinking at the bar they call The Brook
When she caught me on her fishy hook
Salty Sue
Out on the sea with fishing crew
Salty Sue
There's only one thing that she wont do
Ain't she great, ain't she fine
Look at the way she plays that line
Come on Sue let's sail away
You're a fishy girl, I must say
Come on baby, blown that horn
Bless the day that you were born
Don't be shy, just go on down
To the docks tonight in your dressing gown
Salty Sue
Salty Sue
Salty Sue
There's only one thing that she wont

Six In The Basement, Richard James Winter, 1996
Six in the basement, high on hope
It’s been a long long day, wonder how I cope
Gotta get the job done, dont bear to think
How my life is boiling away, and going down the sink
I got a girl to keep, and bills to pay
And I got holes in my socks
I can't work enough (earn) to keep that lawyer away
He wants everything I’ve got
Ten in the basement, high on dope
It’s been a long long day, I wonder how I cope
Just turned the light off, dont bear to think
How the nights are shorter, shorter than the days
Still in the basement, thinkin’ of you
Gonna be a long long day, don’ Know whatta do
Lonely as a ghost town, high as a kite
Got your photo and a bottle of scotch, to see me through the night

Green Leaves | Richard James Winter/Traditional | 6/2005
Alas my love
I did you wrong
When I spent the night
With that babe from Hong Kong
You know seasons come
And seasons go
And it's time to be moving on
There's green leaves
On this heart of mine
I fell out of love
We ran out of time
Green leaves
On this heart of mine
And my train just got in so goodbye
Alas my love
I've got to go
Put on some Elvis
And hit the road
Our love is like snow
And there's no place to go
But I've got to be moving on
There's green leaves
On this heart of mine
Give me some whisky
Fill me with wine
Green leaves
On this heart of mine
And my train just got in so goodbye
Alas my love
She whispered then
You told me once
You'll be gone again
I understand
but it hurts anyway
Honey I wish you could stay
There's green leaves
On this heart of mine
But autumn will come
Yes autumn will come
Guess these green leaves
Are some kind of curse
And our tears are just making it worse

Two Nuns Went Down To The River (And Only One Came Back) | Richard James Winter | 2005
Now sister Jane had always been strange
Apparantely she prayed for pain
She has a bible made of gold you see
And swears that's not blas----phemy
Now Sister Jane confessed last night
Claimed that she, had seen the light
Now someone said she'd seen a tear
Run down the cheek of a statue here
Now we're all pretty worried round here
And we're all dressed in black
Since two nuns went down to the river
And only one came back
We rung the bells on that dark day
Sung those hymns and tried to pray
The vicar preached the whole damn night
He read the bible, every line
Sweet Sister Jane thinks she saw God
Down by the river with a fishing rod
Now this scares the hell out of me
It's time to go, time to flee
Now we're all out of our minds round here
And we're all dressed in black
Since two nuns went down to the river
And only one came back
Now we're all out of our minds round here
And we're all dressed in black
Since two nuns went down to the river
And only one came back

9:28 | Richard James Winter | 2005
The dirty green train got in at 9:28
Brakes scratching and screaming
That guy with the grey hat
Definately just left his wife
He's heading out west
To start a new life
I ouzed my way through the crowd
Slipping and sliding, holding my hat
Treading on dogs
And this and that
Glaring eyes followed me like lost cats
Who the hell needs five suitcases
And a matching umbrella?
Just look at those hands
Sure she used to be a fella
Oh Jesus, there's Mary
Better hide behind this guy
Who has a striking resemblance to Chuck
You see Mary has been trying to prove for years
That Bob didn't even shoot the sherrif
Some say she's crazy
But I don't care if
She is
I just don't wanna get involved
And the neon lights draw me out
Like poison into the night
I know this jungle
Like I knew the back of my old man's hand
Blood flows through these streets
It gets into every crack
But what the hell
If I wasn't so happy
I'd be glad to be back

It Takes Two To Tango | Richard James Winter 2005
I tried the twist and foxtrot
The cha-cha and Samba too
But come on baby let's tango
It stops me feeling blue
I polished my old shoes up
My shirt is white as snow
I'll meet you on the corner
And a tangoing we will go
And the music plays forever
I hold you in my arms
And we will be together
Look, here's my good luck charm
It takes two to tango
I'll guide you like a star
We'll dance and dance forever
Tell me me where you are
She's standing at the bar now
Kissing Sid Malone
He tangos like a king
So I'll tango home alone
It takes two to tango
You're the only girl I've known
I loved you like no other
But now I dance alone
Yes now I dance alone
Yes now I dance alone
