Song With No Name | 2005 Was a hell of a party Had a hell of a time We drank and drank for ever And the girls were real fine Jim caught a bottle Right between the eyes And Jodie's got his number In lipstick on her thigh Now some say I'm a liar And others say it's true Just believe me honey I love you Standing at the station I met you off each train I drew a little heart In the dust of a pane I used to have a wooden leg But a wooden heart would do I need a flame for this candle And an end for this tune Now some say I'm a liar And others say it's true Just believe me honey I love you Now some say I'm a liar And others say it's true But this song with no name Is for you Copyright Richard James Winter. Two Nuns Went Down To The River (And Only One Came Back) | 2005 Spoken: Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel-feet have trod, With its crystal tide forever Flowing by the throne of God? Yes, we'll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. On the margin of the river, Washing up its silver spray, We will walk and worship ever All the happy, golden day. Now sister Jane had always been strange Apparantely she prayed for pain She has a bible made of gold you see And swears that's not blas----phemy Now Sister Jane confessed last night Claimed that she, had seen the light Now someone said she'd seen a tear Run down the cheek of a statue here Now we're all pretty worried round here And we're all dressed in black Since two nuns went down to the river And only one came back We rung the bells on that dark day Sung those hymns and tried to pray The vicar preached the whole damn night He read the bible, every line Sweet Sister Jane thinks she saw God Down by the river with a fishing rod Now this scares the hell out of me It's time to go, time to flee Now we're all out of our minds round here And we're all dressed in black Since two nuns went down to the river And only one came back Spoken: Ere we reach the shining river, Lay we every burden down; Grace our spirits will deliver, And provide a robe and crown. At the smiling of the river, Mirror of the Saviour's face, Saints, whom death will never sever, Lift their songs of saving grace. Soon we'll reach the silver river; Soon our pilgrimage will cease; Soon our happy hearts will quiver With the melody of peace. Now we're all out of our minds round here And we're all dressed in black Since two nuns went down to the river And only one came back Copyright Richard James Winter. Moving to Cuba | 2005 I'm moving, to Cuba Where the girls are brown and the banks are closed I'm moving, to Cuba I'll bring my heart, I'll bring that red rose I'll buy a big car with a fistfull of dollars And we'll drive 'till night is day A gallon of whiskey, some Cuban cigarres Hell I might even start to pray I worked on a ship, I worked on a train I tried selling papers in the pouring rain I broke a few hearts and fixed a few too Now I'm moving to Cuba again I'm moving, to Cuba Where love is free, where love is like rain I'm moving, to Cuba I'll kiss you awake, again and again I'll buy a small house with a fistfull of dollars A joint that's as long as the day A clock full of time, a bottle of hope Hell I might even start to pray I worked at the yard, it drove me insane I took a few tablets to ease the pain I broke a few hearts, fixed a few too Now I'm moving to Cuba again (cha cha cha) I'll buy a small house with a fistfull of dollars A joint that's as long as the day A clock full of time, a bottle of hope Hell I might even start to pray I worked at the yard, it drove me insane I took a few tablets to ease the pain I broke a few hearts, fixed a few too Now I'm moving to Cuba again (cha cha cha) Copyright Richard James Winter. For Claudia 04:11
For Claudia | 2000 Never did get famous Never wrote that tune Never walked the prairies Never kissed the moon I never missed a heartbeat But then I missed a few I never had this feeling 'till I fell in love with you Have I ever whispered, I love you? Let me take you in my arms, my love And show you that it's true I don't wanna hurt you Although I know I do It breaks my heart as well my love To see you feeling blue Never seen a smile so bright Or met a soul so true Never fought so hard to live 'till I fell in love with you Have I ever whispered, I love you? Let me take you in my arms, my love And show you that it's true We both try our hardest But things still get us down But my life's been precious Since you've been around I wanna meet you by that tunnel You know the one I mean Lay with you forever Forever in a dream Have I ever whispered, I love you? Let me take you in my arms, my love And show you that it's true Copyright Richard James Winter. May not be used in any form without prior written permission.

Kalinka (We'll Make It Through The Winter) | 2005 I'm heading out of Moscow on a night train Wondering if these snow flakes are for you It's nearly cold enough, to numb this heartache We both have dark sides like the moon How I wish I was dancing with you now Somewhere in the midst of our dreams I made a little wish upon a distant star But the stars have turned their backs on me Kalinka, we'll make it through the winter Kalinka, we'll make it through the spring Kalinka, you know I love you But now you say it doesn't mean a thing You said that you wanted ten children And a farm near that power plant With a really nice view of the border But we couldn't get a government grant I know I don't speak your language But we loved each other all the same Now your eyes were colder than sibiria When you gave me the ticket for this train Kalinka, we'll make it through the winter Kalinka, we'll make it through the spring Kalinka, you know I love you But now you say it doesn't mean a thing I'm heading out of Moscow on a night train Wondering if these snow flakes are for you With a suitcase full of time and vodka Now Kalinka's just another tattoo Kalinka, we'll make it through the winter Kalinka, we'll make it through the spring Kalinka, you know I love you But now you say it doesn't mean a thing Copyright Richard James Winter. My Favourite Street | 2004 In my favourite street there's a little dusty shop With things, that you'll never need A broken cup, a wooden leg And a diary that no one can read There's a bar on the corner which only sells beer To people who can't get enough Well we might be losers, but beggars ain't choosers But we're happy well that's all right with me And I woke up With the sun in my eyes with a girl in my arms with a bruise on my thigh I woke up With hope in my heart in my favourite street in my favourite street And I woke up Still searching for love with a girl in my arms In my favourite street I woke up Hoping like hell in my favourite street again In my favourite street, there's a girl full of pain And a baby that looks like her dad She sits in the garden, and dreams of the night When he said she was all that he had And when the phone rings she hopes that it's him She's waited a year and a day But he went to Cuba and now he plays tuba For a combo called Libre they say And I woke up With the sun in my eyes with a girl in my arms with a bruise on my thigh I woke up With hope in my heart in my favourite street in my favourite street And I woke up Still searching for love with a girl in my arms in my favourite street I woke up Hoping like hell in my favourite street again Copyright Richard James Winter. Six In The Basement | 1996 Six in the basement, high on hope It’s been a long long day, wonder how I cope Gotta get the job done, dont bear to think How my life is boiling away, and going down the sink I got a girl to keep, and bills to pay And I got holes in my socks I can't work enough (earn) to keep that lawyer away He wants everything I’ve got Ten in the basement, high on dope It’s been a long long day, I wonder how I cope Just turned the light off, dont bear to think How the nights are shorter, shorter than the days Still in the basement, thinkin’ of you Gonna be a long long day, don’ Know whatta do Lonely as a ghost town, high as a kite Got your photo and a bottle of scotch, to see me through the night Copyright Richard James Winter. A Wounded Soldier | 2005 A cold wind blows Across the shore line And no one knows Where I am The ships are gone They left at sunrise The waves of hope Move through me A wounded soldier Took my letter And promised to burn it at sea I claim this island For me alone And will do the best I can A cold wind blows Across the shore line And no one knows where I am I know I failed You're a mirror I caught the echo Long ago If time could wait I'm sure I'd manage And find a way To make it home A wounded soldier Took my letter And promised to burn it at sea I claim this island For me alone And will do the best I can A cold wind blows Across the shore line And no one knows where I am Copyright Richard James Winter. about

Melancholy, sitting-in-bar-lyrics, dusty feelings, time to think back. This album is the first of two featuring songs mainly written in 2005. The recordings were done in 2009.

I am aware that the whole album could be louder, but decided to use these levels.

The album was recorded in 2009 in Munich, Vienna, Dachau, Vancouver and Manchester.

Download includes PDF with song lyrics.

I am from Ryde on the Isle of Wight in England.

Click on each song title for more information, including credits, a nice photo and the lyrics.
